Responsibilities:

• Support and mentor site employees and sub-contractors in identifying and implementing appropriate procedures and practices required to protect the safety and security of plant workers
• Maintain a safety leadership presence in the operating plant including responding to employee suggestions and concerns
• Actively coach employees and contractors towards creating a safe and sustainable work environment by education regarding compliance with all applicable safety, health and security requirements
• Accompany, document and report OSHA inspections, insurance inspections and other formal safety and security inspections at the site
• Conduct incident investigations, participate in audits and collect information
• Coordinate site Emergency Action Plan, act as site Emergency Response Coordinator and support interaction with local emergency response agencies and responders
• Lead the site HSE Safety Program and drive employee engagement through safety projects and new initiatives, and timely reporting of safety issues;
• Supervise less experienced safety technicians and coach employees across the site on basic safety standards;
• Ensure compliance with all hazardous work permits and site environmental permits;
• Attend additional educational training as required.
• Performs other HSE duties as directed by HSE Manager.
• Plant work may require work in different shifts during the peak of the season.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 25 kg and have a valid driver’s license

Requirements:

• Organizational skills to enable timely monitoring and response of safety and security key performance indicators and needs.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills are required, along with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
• Strong working knowledge of current OSHA regulations.
• Ability to problem solve, utilize critical thinking skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in safety, sciences, or technical field
• Minimum 2 years of work experience
