The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) şirkəti Language Specialist vəzifəsi üzrə vakansiya elan edir.

About the Job:

The Language Specialist 1 translates ICRC documents from English to Azerbaijani and external documents from Azerbaijani into English. She/he will also interpret from English into Azerbaijani and vice-versa during meetings, workshops or seminars. She will work within the Protection Department but may also translate/interpret for other ICRC departments.
The Language Specialist 1 also supports the Protection Secretariat with secretarial, administrative and logistical tasks.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Translate official ICRC correspondence, letters, reports or publications from
  • English into Azerbaijani and vice versa.
  • Interpret during meetings of ICRC staff with official contacts or beneficiaries with  confidence and accuracy while adapting behaviour and terminology to the various interlocutors.
  • Interpret during workshops, seminars or other ICRC events.
  • If capable, also translate and interpret between English and Russian.
  • Review the quality of translations performed by external firms and make necessary adjustments or recommendations for improvement.
  • Replaces the Language Specialist 2 in her absence.
  • Treat information with confidentiality and accuracy.
  • Assist the Administrative Assistant 1 in managing the Protection Secretariat, including by  drafting and finalizing external correspondence, following up on meeting requests,  ensuring electronic and paper filing of protection correspondence and other tasks. Replace the Administrative Assistance 1 in her absence.
  • Assist the Protection in other tasks, including the organization of seminars, trainings or other events, ordering and recording ICRC assistance and other tasks as necessary.

About you:

  • Higher Education (University or Institute – qualified translator)
  • At least 4 years’ work experience in a similar field of activity.
  • Excellent knowledge and fluency in spoken and written English and Azerbaijani. Fluency in spoken and written Russian is a strong advantage.
  • Good rigor, method, attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Capacity to treat sensitive information with utmost discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Autonomous and punctual (respect deadlines for translations).
  • Capacity to adhere to and implement procedures.
  • Analysis / summarizing.
