Responsibilities:

Academic advisor is responsible for each and every student of ADA School to maximally benefit from the school’s services to reach their growth potential academically, socially and emotionally. Thus, each Advisor is assigned up to 275 students (12 classes) to introduce them to ADA School culture, processes and procedures and ensure students’ maximum adherence to ADA School principles throughout their studies at ADA School. More specifically, the following responsibilities are required of the Academic Advisor

• Cooperate with the School administration to Welcome students to ADA School and introduce them to ADA School rules and regulations by organizing Campus tours and information sessions;
• Help students transition to ADA School environment emotionally by organizing and leading team-building and group mingling activities;
• Develop and teach MyADA, which is a course on ADA School ethos, culture, rules and regulations.
• Meet own classes on a weekly basis to review student satisfaction with the lessons and make note of problems and address them to the relevant Departments: Academic Office; Student Support Services Office; Registration and Admissions office.
• Meet students individually at least once a semester to discuss students learning plans, career goals as well as explore student interests and talents; Provide guidance or refer students to relevant persons academic affairs, career, creativity and talent and emotional and psychological matters;
• Pay regular visits to the lessons (at least once a week in each class) to ensure good classroom environment which is characterized by friendship, collegiality and respect; Make note of troublesome matters in the class dynamics and involve relevant persons (e.g. Manager of Ethics and Civil Service, School Counsellor) to resolve them.
• Track students general learning habits and provide guidance on good study habits. In case of severe learning disability, inform the School Counsellor and ensure students’ attendance of regular sessions with School Counsellor;
• Collect and analyze student data in order to inform schoolwide decisions on academics, student support services, ethics and behavior.
• Help and act as the lead person in the organization of the Parents Meeting for the class and collect information about students to be shared with the parents;
• Meet subject teachers on a regular basis (at least once a month) and work closely with the subject teachers in order to provide differentiated instruction based on student characteristics;
• Act as contact person for any matters of the Class and refer students to the relevant departments and persons of the School;
• Help create shared governance in the School: Work together and mentor two Class Deputies who can take leadership of the class and can lead the class to act as an independent and sustainable entity of the larger School Community;
• Participate in the Organization of Graduation Ceremony of the Senior together with Class Deputies;

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in pedagogy, psychology or related field from an accredited institution;
• Minimum two years of working experience with school age students, specially ages 15-18;
• Experience in international schools in and outside of Azerbaijan beneficial;
• Proven experience of Excel for purposes of data analysis;  Ability to synthesize and analyse quantitative and qualitative data, prepare and present reports effectively, and make necessary recommendations;
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in both English and Azerbaijani;
• Strong organizational skills;
