Overall Purpose of the Job (State briefly why the job exists):

• The Electrician is required to assist in carrying out general maintenance or inspecting and testing and installation of electrical equipment and components to required safe industry standards.

Key Activities and Accountabilities (Describe the important end results of the job, i.e., what has to be achieved and why.):

• Will be responsible for the learning and understanding of company equipment while being employed.
  Maintain company equipment (including electrical equipment) in accordance with the current maintenance program; inspect, assemble, disassemble, and check the functionality of equipment in accordance with the current maintenance management system; load and unload equipment as per instructions from the Supervisor.
• Determine required equipment and installation method, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry and welding techniques. Observe electrical performance tests to evaluate quality and conformance to specifications.
• Lay out, position and install electrical equipment and components according to defined specifications.
• Analyze technical drawings and specifications to plan layout, assembly and electrical operations.
• Will be able to carry out the hours of work and duties as specified by the Supervisor while at the workshop.
• Ensure that the installation, maintenance and repair of all electrical equipment and peripherals is carried out safely, effectively and to required standards.
• Work with safety as a top priority in order to minimize accidents and incidents, diagnosing malfunctioning systems, apparatus and components, using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
• Will receive appropriate training to appraise them of relevant legislation, Company Policy, standards, and procedures.
• Attend the regular safety meetings, which take place within the company when invited.
• Recommend measures to improve procedures, equipment performance, quality of services, and suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of services or work crew.
• Keep work area clear of trip hazards and perform housekeeping chores to keep the floor and equipment clean of debris.
• Report any unsafe practices, conditions, and/or damage to the environment to the appropriate Supervisor. Seek ways to eliminate unsafe practices, conditions, and avoid damage to the environment.
• This work can be physically demanding. These demands may be defined as exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Ability to climb stairs, perform lifting/lowering, pushing/pulling, standing/bending tasks, and endure long hours in possible adverse weather conditions.
• Actively adhere to the Code of Conduct and Anti-Bribery policies, procedures and processes to ensure the highest ethical standards are maintained and exposure to liability or risk to company reputation is minimized. If necessary, report possible violations or conflicts of interest.
• Actively adhere to and ensure compliance with applicable Quality policies, procedures, processes and systems. Take an active part in quality improvement processes. Identify and report any deficiencies to Supervisor and obtain authorization for any deviations from standard procedures.
• Actively comply with all applicable Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) policies, procedures and processes. Promote HSE awareness; take responsibility and be accountable for own safety and safety of others. Demonstrate the personal application of HSE procedures in daily performance and always follow the Safety House Rules.
• Ensure objectives set under Employee Development Plan are met.
• Fulfill any additional tasks and duties that can be assigned by the Line Manager/Supervisor.

Job Knowledge and Qualifications (Indicate minimum knowledge and essential background qualifications necessary to perform the job competently):

• Degree in Electrical Engineering
• 5 years’ experience in Oil & Gas industry
• CompEx certified for the electrical inspection and testing of ATEX / IECEx equipment
• Working knowledge of the Permit to Work system including lockout tagout practices and procedures
• Ability to work unsupervised
• Competent in the use of Portable Appliance Testers
• Ability to install, repair and maintain electrical wiring, systems and equipment in an industrial premises
• Competence in computer programs applicable to the requirements of CAM applications.
