Candidate must have experience within the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical heavy engineering sectors, good rotating equipment knowledge and hand on skills. Scope is to inspect, maintain, repair, and overhaul various equipment assets such as pumps, compressors, gearboxes, exchangers and coolers etc.

Main Duties of the Field Service Mechanical Engineer include:

• Mechanical repairs and maintenance to rotating equipment such as large turbines, array of pumps, BFW multi-stage. Additionally, auxiliary and BOP equipment such as gearboxes, coolers, conveyors and valves etc.
• Perform mechanical maintenance; proficient in the use of measuring equipment such as micrometers, DTI’s, and alignment tooling.
• To mechanically undertake and complete Workshop and Field Service activities inclusive of reporting detailing findings, condition assessments, critical tolerances, actions taken and recommendations.
• To communicate on a technical level both verbally and written to peers and customers.
• Fault finding and diagnosis of mechanical equipment associated but not limited to the heavy engineering sectors working on an array of rotating machines, balance of plant and auxiliary systems.
• Conduct defect repairs and routine maintenance on mechanical equipment for Oil & Gas facilities, petrochemical facilities, heavy industry, machinery and ancillary equipment, ensure mechanical installations are to OEM and customer standards & all technical and operational requirements are adhered to.
• Work alone to identify and resolve faults and concerns on mechanical systems
• When required assist and lead planned projects and equipment outages.
• Effectively manage work schedule and proactively assist customers maintenance and operational personnel to minimize downtime and rectify problems efficiently and effectively and working safely at all times.

The successful applicant (Field Service Mechanical Engineer) should have the following abilities:

• Be self-motivated to work individually but adaptable to work as part of a team.
• Mechanical ONC & HNC, NVQ, or equivalent qualifications.
• Able to communicate in a clear, concise, logical manner both verbally and written.
• Fault finding, repair, overhaul, servicing, installation, and commissioning experience.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Have a good working knowledge of control of work systems, permit to work, risk assessments, isolation procedures, hazard identification and mitigation.
• Have a good level of fitness due to the physical demands of the job.
• Have a flexible and positive outlook.
• Be available for call out.
• Flexibility to work away from home when needed.
• Have relevant knowledge, training, and experience within Oil & Gas, Petrochemical or heavy engineering sectors.

Desirable and Technical Skills for the Mechanical Engineer include:

• Previous experience OEM pump, compressor, gearbox, and or turbine experience.
• Strong rotating equipment background.
• Knowledge of static equipment maintenance and servicing
• Good technical abilities; measuring, technical, analytical and reporting skills.
• 5 years minimum field experience performing installation servicing, maintenance, commissioning of rotating equipment.
• Qualifications – Mechanical Engineering Qualification, Diploma
• OEM Trainings
