Department: Operations

Report to: Head of Operations Department.

Main duties:

  • Developing procurement strategies that are inventive and cost-effective.
  • Developing purchasing policies and procedures for the organisation.
  • Overseeing the purchasing function of the organisation.
  • Using auditing software to manage the assets of the organisation.
  • Negotiating with suppliers and vendors to secure advantageous terms while adhering to the policies and procedures of the organisation.
  • Reviewing existing contracts with suppliers and vendors to ensure on-going feasibility.
  • Building and maintaining long-term relationships with vendors and suppliers.
  • Performing risk assessments on potential contracts and agreements.
  • Controlling the procurement budget and promoting a culture of long-term saving on procurement costs.
  • Seeking and implementing relevant improvements to purchasing and the supply chain.
  • Coordinating purchasing department activities with logistics activities.
  • Directing the development of sources of worldwide supplies to assure product quality, deliveries, services and procedures are maintained.
  • Approving the inquires issued, bid tabulations prepared, purchase orders placed and invoices presented for payment relative to equipment, materials and services for contracts taken on by Company and register into system.
  • Conducting a tender process.
  • Leading an efficient procurement team.
  • Developing and mentoring members of the purchasing team in order to maintain motivation levels and optimise performance.
  • Working to improve purchasing function process efficiencies.
  • Preparing procurement reports.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, procurement, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience of managing a purchasing team.
  • Proven strategic procurement experience and skills.
  • Effective negotiating skills.
  • Proven leadership skills in a busy and demanding environment.
  • Highly-developed financial analysis skills.
  • The ability to draft and review contracts that adhere to company policies and bring value to the organisation.
  • Highly developed communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Additional certification in purchasing or significant experience as a chief procurement officer.
