A Sales Manager is responsible for maximizing revenue by driving sales of the guest rooms and/or event space in the hotel for their defined markets to ensure all financial and sales goals are achieved or exceeded.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Account prospecting, solicitation, and development via telephone, personal contact, outside calls, correspondence, email and other means of communication. Conduct hotel site inspections, entertain both in house and off property, and maintain thorough follow up methods.
- Prepare and present proposals and contracts both written and verbal in a prompt, accurate, profitable, pleasant and professional manner.
- Handle account details and coordinate final arrangements with related departments.
- Attend meetings including, but not limited to, pre-convention, business review, departmental.
- Represent hotel at trade shows, civic/business functions, industry-related associations, and other events to promote the hotel and/or the city.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Proficient computer knowledge.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Basic mathematical skills that allow for calculation of room blocks, average rates, and forecast information.
- Flexibility to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.
- Ability to organize detailed information.
- Ability to work independently while accepting ongoing training and supervision.
- Ability to effectively network and market our property.
- Join a relevant professional organization. Attend monthly meetings and be an active participant in the organization’s events.
- Strong willingness to learn the designated market(s).
ACCOUNTABILITY:
- Achieve quarterly/annual sales goal.
- Development of new accounts.
- Submit reports, proposals, contracts, and correspondence within allotted deadlines.
- Maintain a high level of professional appearance, demeanor and image of self and hotel
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Proficient computer skills including the ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Power Point are preferred but not required.
- Strong multiple – project management skills.
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to read, write and speak the English and Russian languages fluently to interact with clients.
- Ability to analyze client needs and negotiate pricing.
- Previous hotel sales experience preferred.
