Key Responsibilities:
- Negotiating new and improved terms with suppliers
- Documenting, maintaining & detailing all supplier terms
- Managing key vendor relationships to provide maximum return by negotiating payment terms, pricing, MOQs and delivery
- Seamless transition of any new or improved agreements
- Identifying new commercial opportunities
- Training, coaching and developing Assistant and Associate Buyers
- Rationalisation & consolidation of terms / suppliers / products
- Utilising market / commodity intelligence to deliver improved terms
- Working with project teams to implement/launch on time and on budget
- Production and maintenance of Goods/Services Approved Supplier catalogue
Main requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of buying experience, with at least 3 years within the retail/food category
- Excellent analytical skills including cost / benefit analysis
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels including senior management
- Ability to work under pressure and deliver to specific deadlines
- Excellent negotiation skills with demonstrable results
- Tender management experience
- Project Management and implementation skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
