Role Summary:

  • A Workover Manager manages daily workover and intervention operations for the Company. Manages the planning and execution of workover and intervention activities, workover rig repairs, rig mobilization and demobilization process to the Company site including workscope by contracted third-party service providers. Being a Workover Manager manages the proper use and maintenance of Company-owned equipment. Responsible for assigning tasks within workover team(s), plans and develops revisions or enhancements to solve the troubleshoot problems occured during operations, provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. Coordinates efficient resource utilisation for maximizing production output from workover activities. Monitors and managed performance of the teams, workover units and service contractors. Workover Manager should be capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.

Work Environment:

  • Workover Manager typically manages through subordinate Site Operations Supervisors and Workover Team Leaders throughout the process of preparation and execution of the site workover and intervention operations. Workover Manager shall arrage a work with other professionals, such as Subsurface team and Service Providers to monitor workover and intervention activities and progress on a daily basis, oversee safety management and ensure the protection of the environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Setting up working environment with the Company subsurface and production optimization teams to ensure delivery of workover candidates for meeting planned production targets;
  • Conduct and supervise technical studies to identify most appropriate workover & well intervention solutions, including those for new drilled wells, sidetracks and well recovery;
  • Ensure the repair works for producer and injector wells complies with Company HSE policies, local regulations and international best practices;
  • Create the best working conditions for workers and to assist them for the professional qualification;
  • Review and approve individual and campaign workover operational programs;
  • Prepare and analyze technical bids for goods and services related to Workover operations, services and equipment. Collaborate with Procurement and Contracts departments to assist them with technical and qualitative and quantitative specifications, technical enquiries and vendor audits and verifications;
  • Ensure the correct management of the workover operations by optimizing the assets and equipment and supervising the execution of the activities of subordinates;
  • Assist the mobilization and ensure that necessary materials and equipment are on-site to support workover operations;
  • Report Wells and Drilling Director of potential problems, work interferences, schedule difficulties, etc. Assist in overcome and resolving such problems and provide actionable recommendations;
  • Analyse daily workover operational progress and provide instructions for the following operations;
  • Analyse safety aspects of the well sites and instruct workover contractors and direct reporting site supervisors and masters on corrective actions relevant to health, safety and environmental aspects;
  • Follow budgeted workover well costs, ensure any deviations are reported on a timely manner and bring relevant justifications about necessary changes to the costs;
  • Coordinate with internal logistics and material supply team including contractors on timely materials, transportation and equipment delivery to the wellsite for provision on fluent and safe operations;
  • Conform to government guidelines, local regulation and international best practices when managing site operations and following workover procedures;
  • Take all necessary actions to prevent any environmental incident;
  • Lead contractors’ scope of work, act as Contract Account Manager on dedicated workover services contracts and solve problems arising during contract management;
  • Take necessary disciplinary actions towards direct reporters when deemed necessary in accordance with Company policies and local regulations;
  • Endorse training and development of direct reporters ensure their capabilities grow to meet Company needs and requirements;
  • Keep informed about latest engineering techniques, innovations and software;
  • Act pro-actively on preparing technical papers to promote Company operations, application of new technology and methods;
  • Prepare and summarize monthly and annual performance and progress reports for management team;
  • Track and guide work and performance of direct reporting engineers and supervisors;
  • Have authority and delegate when needed to stop the site job for safety and environmental reason;
  • Recommend newer methods and innovations through researching markets, promote and support local suppliers and manufacturers where deemed economical for Company operations;
  • Approve site tickets for service companies when performing contractually agreed scope of work;
  • Prepare resource plan as per operational requirements and submit to Wells and Drilling Director for approval;
  • Assess resource utilisation and efficiency and report to line manager accordingly;
  • Manage critical and high cost rental equipment from contractors on the rig site directly and indirectly via providing relevant instructions;
  • Endorse and approve prepared end of well material and cost reconciliation and all associated documentation for all wells in a timely manner;
  • Ensure that equipment is being inventoried properly and the paper work required is prepared accurately;
  • Responsible for the preparation of site specific HSE requirements;
  • Issues instructions to service companies for work required and monitors the operations to ensure compliance;
  • Issues instructions in emergency situations. Conducts emergency drills, BOP drills, etc. as often as deemed necessary;
  • Perform a role of Company Tier 2 Emergency Leader for workover operations;
  • Verify that all tools and wellhead equipment arrived to the site complies for size and pressure rating on as specified in the plan by obtaining reports from Site Supervisors and Masters.  Assures that the proper tools and back-ups, if required, are available on location and ready for use.  Ensures that every piece of equipment that enters the hole is measured and that the drill string length is accurately known, recorded and stored at the Company data server;
  • Inspects the well site frequently to ensure Company policies and HSE manuals are complied with;
  • Recommends ways to reduce cost and improve safety on Company and contractor sites;
  • Arrange and organize audits into contractor workshops and facilities when necessary as a part of contractor performance management process.
  • Prepare annual Workover and well intervention programs including OPEX requirements for review.

Skills & Attributes:

Good Knowledge and experience of:

  • Company’s regulations, orders and decrees
  • Orders, decrees and resolutions of high bodies
  • Knowledge of international and local HSE regulations and standards
  • Knowledge of completion, well testing, work-over, wireline and rigless operations technology knowledge acquisition and capitalization
  • Knowledge of well control practices during workover and intervention operations
  • Knowledge of fishing and milling tools, practices and problems that can arise during operations
  • Extensive experience of carrying out complex workover and fishing operations
  • Understanding and managing well integrity problems
  • Understand and demonstrate leadership in all aspects of managing an HSE compliant operation without sacrificing operational efficiency
  • Experience of managing SIMOPS and several rig operations
  • Be familiar with cost reporting and cost verification as it pertains to approval of Company’s expenditures
  • Experience managing corporate workover OPEX programmes.

  • At least 5 + years of managerial experience – M
